The only true way to get rid of a virus or any virus is 1st to find the Virus, which you have done.

2nd clear your system restores cache. What this does i'll explain. System restore takes a snapshot photo of your hard disk( Hard Drive) Everything it sees it copys. Now if you do not clear that out , even though you deleted your virus you can reinfect your computer in the evenets you ever did a system restore. So here is the steps to fixing that small problem so you dont reinfect your computer.

1st- right click on My Computer

2nd-click system restore Tab

3rd-Remove the check mark from the Box on the left side of ''Turn off system Restore''

4th- click OK

5th- Reboot your system

Now that you did all that you cleared out your system restores cache, go back and turn it back on so your system will start creating restore points once again. You should be all set now.

Give this a shot. It normally works unless the trojan is deeply buried into a hidden file or the like.

In you case, type in fotomoto and/or fotomotoA wherever you see ''Pesky'' below.

The only sure way to deal with that is by reinstalling the operating system.

Well if norton didn't prevent it I would get rid of it and get avg or ewido the programs are free and they work better.
I'm not sure about Norton but I think AVG's better. You might also consider downloading Spybot-earch and Destroy (for spywares) and Ad-Aware programs. Sorry can't teach you how because they were installed in our computer by someone else but you can just search those programs in google.

Actually, that probably just precipitated your CURRENT issue. You now have a partially corrupt operating system.

First, try to get to safe mode and run your anti virus. Then if you run a checkdisk (start/run/ type cmd

type chkdsk /r ), it will probably get rid of the run dll error. then I would boot to normal windows and back up my GOOD data. DO NOT BACK UP FREE MUSIC OR MOVIES. I would then back up my data and reinstall windows which is the only sure way to make sure the virus does not reinstall itself. Do NOT reinstall limewire/frost/bearshare, etc. or any music or videeos you ever got from them

Try reformatting the drive then reinstall the OS. By reformatting the drive, you will destroy all data on the drive, including the Trojan.

Mcafee is a good antivirus software for virus protection. I would suggest first update your McAfee by running live update on your system and then do a complete scan. If this does'nt work, download another antivirus software from net. Try AVG. Its free and can be downloaded from www.download.com

Are you saying that Mcafee found it but can't get rid of it. Does the Trojan have a name. I would suggest that you run Macafee's Live update to bring your virus definitions up to date and then scan. Usually when an anti-virus program does a scan and finds a virus or trojan horse, it will either delete or quarantee it. however you have done well by catching these with your anti-virus software and putting them in your ''virus vault''

and while they are in there they will cause no further problems on your p.c

the virus vault is totally seperate to the rest of your hard drive,it cannot be accesed by other programs and will not affect any security settings

as previously mentioned if you are getting worried about these trojans then simply empty your virus vault and they will be gone forever

Beware..there are some programs that are free but contain their own spyware as well, while not removing anything for you at all but stupid cookies you could find yourself.

I think you are having a hard time because trojan's are not exactly viruses. So most anti-virus programs will not remove them, because they do not see them as viruses.

A couple of month's back I suffered a nasty trojan infection. It completely screwed my computer up. Every time I would get on the internet I would get blasted with pop-up after pop-up.

It got so bad, I thought I would have to get a new computer. So out of frustration I called Geek Squad. They wanted $200 to Look at my computer, and that didn't include fixing it. No Way!

If you can't fix spyware or virus problems in that computer, remove the hard drive and plug into other computer which has antivirus and antispyware software installed and updated. Backup your data by that way.

After backing up your data, format that hard drive and install new windows installation.

If it's a Virus that is causing the problem, you are in a disaster situation. If so, and you are unable to get online, to completely remove the virus without outside help and without spending money on new software to do it, Re-Format the hard drive! It means losing all of your data (Which of course you have backed up?) It effectively returns the Drive to it's original state, with no operating system and no programs. If you are able to backup your data on to CD's , a simpler way would be to buy a new drive and fit it, but then your want to do it for free. Deep Sadness!

It would have been helpful if you mentioned the name of the trojan! I could help you better then. Anyways, here are some general guidelines:

First use the antivirus and antispyware software you have to run a full system scan. Do it in the windows safe mode. (AVG and Avast antivirus softwares are free while a 6 month free trial for Norton is available at pack.google.com. Lavasoft's free Ad-Aware is the best antispyware to my knowledge. Also Windows Defender from Microsoft is good enough for real-time protection). This should solve the problem. However, if the antivirus software is unable to delete the malware, go to Norton's website and search for the name of the malware detected. Their must be some instructions posted to tackle the problem. You might have to delete the system restore points and as well delete the particular registry entries manually if the virus still regenerates on subsequent boot up of the machine. Good Luck.

PS. If you are still having trouble, use Hijack This and copy the log it generates and post it on some tech help forum. I am sure there will be plenty of people ready to help you out.

why bother going to all the expense of buying anti virus software when you have already bought the operating system, just wipe the hard drive and reinstall the operating system but make sure you have all the drivers you will need before doing so.
AVG is a nice free software that will not help you clean your system. It's time to break down and buy a software package. My suggestion would be McAfee.

OK, there are several things you need to do:

1) turn off System Restore. You do this by going to Accessories..System Tools..System Restore. Turn this off--it's most often not needed and is a place where viruses hide.

2) go to www.grisoft.com and download their AVG anti-virus package. After installation, make sure you have it updated with the most current definitions.

3) I assume you're running Windows XP.
