Avast will throw up this obnoxious black and yellow fall-out shelter looking type warning that it did find something and will ask you how you want to deal with it.
Tell Avast to put it in the chest, and let it stay there for a week or so. If your system functions properly with those files in the chest you know that they weren't important for the normal running of your system, so you can then safely permanently remove them.

Yes, it does. It will make it inactive. If you press delete button, it will be permanently deleted.
